St. Dominic’s retain Scór “Club of the Year”  title

Good Friday night last, St. Dominic’s Scór committee hosted “Scór Sinsear RosComáin 2008”, which proved to be a very successful night with a packed Culleen Hall. This is the second consecutive year the club has both hosted the G.A.A.’s cultural event and achieved the Club of the Year shield, which was based on participation and success for both Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsear.

The shield was presented to Thomas Murray, Chairman of St. Dominic’s Scór. This success would not have been possible, especially at Scór na nÓg level, but for the diligence of a few people who helped put “88 members of our club” up on stage at our club final.
The “Club of the Year” shield was the first of our two wins on the night.

Padraig O’Connor won a very competitive Solo Singing competition, claiming victory over nine other competitors from various clubs with the song: “The Town I Loved So Well.” Padraig goes on to represent the club this Saturday, March 29th, in the Connaught Final where Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, plays host to the competition.

We wish Padraig the very best. The club was also represented on the night with another Solo Singer, Sylvia Kilcline, a Figure Dancing Group, Novelty Act, Ballad Group and two Question Time teams. The Scór committee would also like to thank Alastair Beegan who carried out an excellent job as “Fear an Tí” on the night.
