St. Dominics dream over

              Moycullen 3-11 Dominics  0-9 

 St. Dominics went down to an excellent Moycullen side in this connacht semi-final played in Pearse Stadium on Saturday afternoon. St. Dominics started brightly with points from Conor Fallon but Moycullen soon kicked bak into contention. Moycullen went ahead for the first time when they goaled after St. Dominics gave up possession cheaply. Minutes later, Andrew Grady shipped a very happy tackle with no resultant free and Moycullen tagged on another point to go 4 up. Grady was replaced by Arthur Beades with Anthony Naughton going back to the corner and Liam Murray going to wing back. St .Dominics managed to score three points to bring them back into contention when Aidan Weir receieved an injury. The loss our Centre half back was another huge blow and left us with an uphill battle in the second half.

Moycullen began to get the upper hand in midfield and a second goal left them 2-7 to 0-7 ahead half way through the second half. St. Dominics kept plugging away but too many of our players misfired and once we started playing catch up, it was going to be difficult to stay in contention. Time and again, passes were too easily intercepted and it was from one of these that Moycullen got a third goal. Although our lads kept fighting to the end, it was a tired fight after three long seasons. A sending off and a third injury, this time to Miley compounded the agony on a bad day at the office.

However, We have a chieved our goal of retaining Senior status for the first time in almost 10 years.The improvement of the younger players like Andrew grady, Anthony Naughton and Seamie McKeown is another plus and we can look forward to next year with some hope .
