U- 12 FOOTBALL
The u12s continue to fulfil their league fixtures last week. Div IV won in Johnston on Monday 25th, 2-9 to Clan Na Gael's 1-4. It was very tight first half but good teamwork and well taken scores won out in the end. On Saturday 30th the Div I side played St. Brigids at home. While both sides had good spells, the Dominic's forwards managed to convert their chances and the backs are improving with every game. Midfield were on top for long periods. Final Score St Dom's 5-7 to St. Brigid's 1-7. On Wednesday 3rd Div IV played away to a very strong Tulsk side. Great goalkeeping and inter passing got St. Dominics into the lead in the second. However Tulsk have some very strong players, in the end winning by 2 points, 1-7 t 2-3.
On Sunday, Clan na Gael were visitors for a "top of the table" Div I match. The local boys got off to good start and could have had more scores, hitting the woodword on three occasions. However a goal and point before half time and a very good team performance from a skillful Clan team in teh second half ended with a draw 2-5 to 1-8. Training continues every THURSDAY from 7 to 8. Next fixture is away to Pearses on Sunday 14th with 12:30 start. Many thanks to all the parents for all their support.
MINOR FOOTBALL

JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
St Dominics 4-10 Padraig Pearses 1-6
The scoreline might suggest that Dominics won this Game easily but they trailed by a point 10 mins into the second half and it was only then that their superior fitness kicked in and Pearses only managed a single point for the remaining 20 min. Pearses opened with a point after 4 min but Dominics responded with a Goal a minute later from Eamon Carney and Ace freetaker Anthony Kelly tapped over 3 Points with a Pearses point sandwiched in between. Pearses were now pressing hard and were reward with a Goal in the 20 th Min and Barry Mugan added a point for Dominics to leave it 1-4 to 1-3 for Dominics at the break. Pearses added 2 quick point after the break to lead by one but then a good Goal from Sub Declan Brennan gave Dominics back the advantage and from there to the end they controlled matters with Anthony Kelly scoring at will including a super point from a sideline. The experienced David o Connor added a Goal and points from Damian Fallon and James Kelly sealed the scoring. Trevor Brennan, Padraig o Connor and Ian Naughton were outstanding in defence with Adrain Brennan showing well at midfield with Anthony Kelly and Barry Mugan the pick of the forwards.

SENIOR FOOTBALL- O Gara CUP
DOMINICS 1-6 ROSCOMMON GAELS 1-5
St. Dominics defeated Roscommon Gaels for the first time in over 20 years at Kilteevan on Wednesday evening. On a glorious day for football, St. Dominics started nervously and gave some sloppy passes... However these went unpunished until a John McHale free put the Gaels one up from a free. However a speculative ball minutes later was broken down from Michael Finneran and Niall Carney was on hand to tap over the equalizer before a super individual score from Tomas Gilleran gave the "visitors" a one point advantage. St. Dominics tackling was poor for much of the game and this led to another scoreable free before another breaking ball into Mark Miley's goal mouth was finished to the net to give the Gaels a good platform. Indeed they could have been further ahead but for some poor shooting.
The second half began with another score from the men in purple and gold and it looked like they would run out easy winners. But the never say die attitude of the Knockroghery camp kept them in touch with scores from Finneran, a free and centre back Aidan Weir. With three points between the teams and scored not coming too easily, a goal was St. Dominics best chance. And it duly came. An error in the Gaels defence saw the ball intercepted by Finneran and he made no mistake from 12 yards. Anthony Kelly s fisted effort grabbed the lead for the first time in the match and even when the Gaels equalised, St. Dominics looked the fitter team and with one minute left, Weir again foraged up the field for the winning point.
After starting slowly, Weir came into the game and exerted his influence in the final 20 minutes. Adrian Brennan had a big game in the middle while full back David Corcoran got the vote for man of the match.
St. Dominics have qualified for the semi final against Boyle. A win would see a return to Senior League action next year.

O GARA CUP St. Dominics 2-7 Shannon Gaels 1-6
St. Dominics completed their program of league games with a hard victory over Shannon Gaels on Saturday evening. After Wednesday superb performance, St. Dominics struggled for long periods in this game. After a Paul Dolan free put them ahead, the men from Croghan began to dominate and scored 1-3 without reply. The home forwards were living on scraps but a life line arrived just before half time. A long ball from midfield fell to Liam Murray and the veteran finished with authority. After playing poorly, St. Dominics were now within a point and set themselves up for the second half.
In truth, again some lethargic play occured in the secon half but when a 60 yard free dropped short, the opposition keeper dropped it behind his own line and put the Doms into a lead which they increased with some fine scores from the in form Ultan Kelly and returning Brian Kearney. He was his sides best forward while in defence Corcoran again and Aidan Weir contributed handsomly.
