CLUB NOTES - Sunday 9th November 2008

LADIES FOOTBALL A.G.M.

The A.G.M. of the Ladies Football will be held on this Wednesday 12th November @ 8.30 pm in the meeting room St. Dominic’s. All welcome.

SENIOR FOOTBALL A.G.M..

 The A.G.M. of the Senior Football Club will take place on Friday 21st Nov at 8.30pm in the Meeting Room.

OVERALL CLUB EXECUTIVE  A.G.M..

 The A.G.M. of the Club Executive will take place on Sunday 30th Nov at 4pm in Culleen Hall.

SENIOR FOOTBALL.

Normally when the lights go out its time to wrap up and relax but not so for the Footballers of Dominics and Strokestown when their relegation play-off had to be abandoned due to lights failure 10 min into the second half in Athleague on Friday night last.Both sets of players must be tired at this stage considering they started Training last Feburary and must now continue for another couple of Weeks. Maybe a solution would be to allow both Teams stay up and have one group of four in next Years Championship and two Teams relegated next Year. Dominics played very well in the first half and led at the break but Strokestown started the second half strongly and led by two points when the lights went pop. 

 U-21 FOOTBALL.

Training for all U-21 Players takes place on this Friday from 8-9pm with a Match in Knockcroghery on Saturday at 3pm.

U-16 FOOTBALL FINAL.

Our U-16s lost out to St Aidans in the League Final in Ballyforan on Sunday last on a scoreline of 2-11- to 1-6. The scoreline does not do justice to Dominics who had three Goal chances cleared off the line in the opening 15 Minutes and this seemed to drain the confidence out of the lads. Aidans played the more direct Ball and this suited in the bad Weather conditions and they went in 5 pts up at the break. Dominics dominated for spells in the second half but could just not get the scores but to their credit they fought to the last and can be proud of their efforts over the Year. Most of the Panel are underage again next Year and the Club can look forward to a good U-16 run again in 2009.
