St Dominics opened their Championship Campaign on Sunday last in Woodmount with a hard earned draw against RoscommonGaels. Dominics fielded a youthful Team and played with the strong breeze in the first half and despite dominating the exchanges early on they could just not register scores easily. Dominics led by a point at the break and upped their performance for the second half but a fortunate Goal for the Gaels gave them a five point advantage with 9 minutes remaining but to their credit Dominics dug deep and with a few clever positional changes by the Management they clawed themselves back with a Conan Fallon Goal from a 30m free and then the same player took advantage of a rare Gaels defensive mix up to run 20m unchallenged and crash home a great Goal to leave Dominics up by a point. Exchanges were tough for the last 5 Mins with the Gaels leading by a point but a great long range point by Liam Murray secured a deserved draw. Dominics will improve from this performance and will feel confident entering next Weeks game against Tremane. The defence looks solid with Damian Fallon outstanding but the balance of Youth and experience will be the key in the forward line.
St Dominics are currently finalising details for our Parish League on Sunday 8th June the winners of which will be presented with the Alan Gately Memorial Cup. Any Player wishing to be included for a Team contact Liam Murphy this Week.

Our U-14 Footballers played Castlerea on Thursday last in the League and went down to a physically stronger side which was a major factor in the difficult weather conditions. Dominics were short a few regulars and this also had a telling effect but they still have a reasonable chance of reaching a League Semi-Final. We play Clan na Gael this Thursday evening in Knockcroghery at 7pm.
Dominics will field two under 12 Teams this Year in the League as we have 35 Players at this age Group which is great credit to the Trainers. We play Castlerea in Div 1 in Castlerea at 12.30 on Sunday and we also play Ros Gaels on Sunday in Div 3 in the Hyde.
Dominics play Roscommon Gaels in a blitz on this Tuesday Evening (27th) in Knockcroghery at 6.30pm. All Players be at the Pitch togged out at 6.15pm.
Dominics played Roscommon Gaels in a blitz on Sunday evening last in Hyde Park. This was a very enjoyable evening for all the Players and indeed the Large number of Parents who attended. Both Clubs had two Teams and we would like to thank Roscommon Gaels for hosting the Blitz and also for the treats to the Children afterwards.
