CLUB NOTES - Sunday 13th April 2008

UNDERAGE FOOTBALL .

 Training for all Beginners,U-8,U-10 and U-12 Footballers continues on this Sunday morning 20th April at 12 noon in the Pitch. Registration forms will be available at the Pitch on Sunday.

SENIOR FOOTBALL MEETING.

A Meeting of the Senior Football Club will take place on this Tuesday Night 15th April at 9pm in the Meeting Room.

EXECUTIVE MEETING.

A Meeting of the overall Executive will take place on Wednesday Night 23rd April at 9pm in the Meeting Room.

ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC.

Our Golf Classic takes place on Friday 2nd and Sat 3rd May in Roscommon. Anyone wishing to enter a Team or Sponsor a Tee Box etc would be very much appreciated. Contact Eddie for Details.

COUNTY BOARD FUNDRAISER.

The County Board Punchestown Races Fundraiser takes place on Thur 24th April. A table consists of 10 people and each Club is expected to have at least 1 Table. If interested in Travelling for this entertaining Day out please contact Larry Shine.

SENIOR HURLING.

  Our U-21 Team Qualified for the Final when defeating Athleague/Tremane on Thursday evening last in Athleague. We had two points to spare in a very closely contested Match thanks mainly to an outstanding performance from Seamie McKeown who scored 9 points. We play Four Roads in the Final in Athleague on Sunday next. Check Fixture list for throw in time.

MINOR FOOTBALL.

 Training takes place on Thurs at 7.30pm.

U-16 FOOTBALL.

Our next game is in the Championship against Tulsk on this Wednesday evening 16th April at 7.00pm. Training takes place on Tuesday from 7-8 pm.

U-14 FOOTBALL.

 Our U-14 Footballers continue their preparations for the league with a challenge game this Tuesday evening. All players meet at Church Car park at 5.15pm.

SENIOR FOOTBALL.

St. Dominics continued their winning ways on Saturday last with a hard fought victory over St Croans on a scoreline of 7 pts to 5 pts.A penalty save by Mark Miley paved the way for this victory combined to some great defending by Trevor Brennan and Andrew Grady.We Play St Josephs in the Tansey cup on this Friday evening in Knockcroghery at 7pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL.

Our Junior Team played St Barrys on Sunday last in Knockcroghery. This was a closely contested entertaining Match with Dominics having the upper hand in the first half but Barrys finished the Match very strongly and won out in the end by 6 points. Training takes place on Friday night at 9.30pm. All Players please attend.

Gaeltacht Scholarship 2008:

As part of the promotion of the Irish language, Roscommon County Board are offering a number of grants to students who wish to improve their knowledge of teanga na Gaeilge.
Applications are invited from students who must be 14 years or older on 1st January 2008. Each grant will be worth €200 which the County Board will pay directly to the students.Application forms must be obtained from the GAA Secretary, Larry Shine, or the Club Irish and Culture Officer, Thomas Murray. No applications can be accepted by phone.
Students should apply with the application form plus a short essay as Gaeilge (not exceeding 300 words) on the GAA.  10 students will then be selected for interview.
Please note any person who was successful in receiving a Scholarship from Coiste Condae Roscomáin in either 2006 or 2007 is not eligible for a scholarship in 2008.
