St. Dominics 1-7 Michael Glaveys 0-7
St. Dominics got off to a steady start in their attempt to bounce back up to Senior League in Ballinlough. The opening half was played in good condition and Conor Fallon opened the scoring with a free before Glaveys equalised. Another point by Fallon and a free from Finneran put St.
Dominics 3 points to one ahead. Dominant in almost every sector of the pitch, Tomas Gilleran slotted over from an acute angle before the excellent Declan Brennan sent Ultan Kelly through on goal. Somehow the ball stayed out after hitting the crossbar. A further Finneran free left it 0-5 to 0-2 at half time.
St. Dominics opened the scoring after half time, Conor Fallon from a free after Brennan was fouled. Brennan was again creator supreme when the Doms finally goaled. He won a long ball in from debutant John Tuohy and turned his marker before hitting a sublime pass to Ultan Kelly whos finish was equally as clinical. Some of the old failings re appeared however and despite total dominance on the field, 5 missed chances in a row, including two frees were squandered. A bizzarre decision by the ref to award a 14 yard free when Ciaran Hunt was hauled down just outside the small square earned another point for Fallon, but St. Dominics began to relax top early and alloweed Glaveys to score the remaining 4 points of the contest. The full back line was as solid as ever for St. Dominics while Declan Brennan was the man of the match for his consistency and class.
