CLUB NOTES - Sunday 13th January 2008

DINNER DANCE.

 A huge attendance of over 400 people gathered for our annual Parish Dinner Dance in the Hodson Bay Hotel on Friday night last. There were a number of presentations made on the Night and the Quest of Honour was Dermot Early. Canon Lavin Chairman of the Club Executive on behalf of the Club presented the County Board with the new Jamsie Murray Cup which will now be the Cup for the Intermediate Football Championship. Michael McQuire Chairman of the County Board accepted the Cup on behalf of the Board and commented that such a fine Cup would indeed be a fitting memory for the great man and thanked the Club for such a generous jesture. The Intermediate Football Players who won the Championship in 2007 were then presented with their Medals be Dermot Early, while Willie Hergerty gave a short and witty introduction to each player as he walked up to collect his Medal. Dermot spoke of the huge role that a G.A.A. club contribute to a Paris or Community and urged the Players that even a bigger commitment was now required to be successful at Senior level but to give it everything and who knows what could be achived in 2008. Tom Gately captain of the winning Team then presented the Manager John McGowan and selectors Kenin Mullarney ,Tom Gilleran and John Caulfield with a replica of the Jamsie Murray Cup in appreciation of their work with the Team. On the Night also, the Club made a presentation to the Four Hurling Players who won All-Ireland Medals with Roscommon in 2007 Liam Murray,Brendan Hanly,Mark Miley and Alan Craven. Canon Murray on behalf of the Murray Family thanked everyone involved with organising the Corn Jamsie Murray and said he was delighted that it was called the Jamsie rather than the Jimmy Murray Cup as that is what he was always called. Liam Murphy the excellent Chairman of the Organising Committee concluded the formal part of the evening by thanking all involved especially Secretary Irene Beirne, all who had attended and to the Sponsor on the night Ray Stanley of Stanley Macadum

DINNER DANCE COMMITTEE.

A final Meeting of the Committee will take place this Wed Night 16th jan at 9pm in the Meeting room. All outstanding Ticket money to be furnished and outstanding bills will to be paid on the night.

SCOR COUNTY FINAL.

The Scor County Finals took place in the Hyde on Sunday last and Dominics were well represented and preformed well in all events which were of a very high standard this Year. Pride of place goes to our Ballad group and Novelty Act who captured County Titles for the Club and go on to the Connaught Finals in Claremorris on Sunday next so the best of luck to them. Ballad Group- Aoife Coyle,Clare Gillespie,Aisling o Connor,Niamh Watson and Caroline Dowling. Novelaty Act- James Murray, Michael FallonClare Gilespie,Susan Gillespie,Aisling o Connor,Caroline Dowling and Cathy Dervan.

COUNTY MINOR FOOTBALL PANEL.

Well done to Niall Byrne and Naos Connaughton who have made the Panel for 2008

COUNTY HURLING.

Well done to Liam Murray on been selected as Captain for 2008.

COUNTY SENIOR FOOTBALL.

Well done to Mark Miley on his promotion to Senior Goalkeeper.
