Mission accomplished its now back to the Senior Championship Football in 2008. Our Whelans Sponsored St Dominics swept to Intermediate glory when they produced an outstanding display of controlled Football to overcome a Game Michael Glaveys side in Athleague on Sunday last in the Intermediate Football Final. The experience gained from last Years defeat certainly came to the fore on Sunday with every Player giving 110% and from the outset you could sense this was a Game Dominics was not going to lose. Our defence had been playing well all Year but our forwards were been critisised for lack of scores but on Sunday they really answered their critics scoring 2-12 with many of the scores from the top drawer.Management of John McGowan,Kevin Mullarney and Tom Gilleran had worked hard on forward play over the last few Weeks and it really paid dividends on Sunday.Another aspect of Dominics on Sunday was their fitness levels and the early season stamina training under Denis Fallon was surly a factor in this.Tom Gately as Captain accepted the Cup from Vice-Chairman Pat Finneran and the Victories Panel travelled home by Bus with Victory Bonfires in Rahara,Lecarrow and Knockcroghery. All Players,Management and Officals then enjoyed a Meal in the Widow Pats. From there the Cup was brought on tour to Murrays,O Briens and The Clay Pipe. Afterward many of the Players were spotted testing their driving skills on the Bumping Cars at the Village Fair.Again well done to all concerned with this great success for Dominics, Playetrs,Officials Management,Sponsors Whelan Quarries and to John Corcoran for his contribution towards the aftermatch Meal.Dominics will now go into a Connaught Championship in two Weeks time where they will play the Galway Champions.

St. Dominics emerged victorious against a spirited Roscommon Gaels in the Division 2B final in St. Brigids on Saturday. The game was played at a cracking pace with early goals from St. Dominics giving them a lead that they never looked like losing. Roscommon Gaels fought hard and despite some excellent scoring were unable to eat into the St. Dominics lead. This was an overall team performance with outstanding displays from the midfield and forwards who all scored. The backs and goalie were strong and withstood any pressure from the opposition and it was a delighted Ruth Coyle that collected the shield for her team. The St. Dominics teamed lined out as follows:- C. Kelly, L. Finneran, A. McNally, Susan Coyle, A. Beirne, M. Craven, R. Coyle (Capt), N. Egan, A. Dolan, E. Horan, A. Grimes, A. Farrell, A.M.
