ANNUAL CLUB/SPONSORS BAR B Q
The Club held a hugely successful Bar B Q on Saturday Night last in the Widow Pats. The new three Year Sponsorship structure was launched on the Night and the success of same was mirrored by the large number of Sponsors and their Families who were present on the Night. The Club now have in excess of seventy Sponsors committed to the Club for the next three Years and this will enable the planed Development of both the Teams and Facilities. Also on the Night the Club Golf Society presented a substancial cheque, the proceeds from this Years golf Classic and this is a huge benefit to the Club Finances and the fine work by the Golf Society is much appreciated. The Club would also like to thank Keenan Butchers Roscommon for their Sponsorship of the Food on the Night, the Band on the Night Upper Limits, and Special Guest Comedian Frank Forde who went down a treat on the Night.
Our Minor Ladies were crowned County Champions on Saturday last when they overcame a strong Oran side to claim the Brid Cox Cup for the first time ever. The Match was played on a perfect surface in Oran and the Dominics Girls opted to play against the Breeze in the first half and Susan Spillane opened the scoring with a point and on ten minutes Sinead Morris drove a great shot to the bottom of the Net to keep Dominics in control.Oran pressed hard but the Dominics defence played very well as a unit and Dominics led by 1-1 to 2 pts at the break. With the breeze in the second half Dominics held the upper hand and despite Oran scoring an early Goal Dominics responded with two great Goals from Elaine Morris and Cathy Dervin and four points from Susan Spillane to win on a scoreline of 3-5 to 1-6.This was a great Team performance by Dominics and great credit is due to Trainers Sean Cox and Geraldine Beattie for having the Girls so well prepared.Team Captain Joanne Beattie proudly accepted the Cup on behalf of the Team and Player of the Match was awarded to Dominics Full back Roisin Connaughton.
